AP English Language & Literature Tutoring
Both AP English Language and Literature can provide a bedrock for student’s success as readers and writers. Both courses focus on the invaluable skills of close reading, analytical thinking, sentence and essay compositions, and synthesizing multiple pieces of information into a single idea.
While the courses can establish a students’ abilities to be capable consumers and communicators of information, individual classes can fall short of this potential for a variety of reasons.
Paul has seven years of experience teaching AP English Language and Literature. He has worked with students at all academic levels and starting points. Paul prepares students to be comfortable with larger concepts and executable techniques so that a student can feel confident and prepared to do well no matter what the AP test throws at them. In addition, his own passion for the material can enliven and inspire a student’s interest in reading and writing. The tutoring will often focus on mission-critical vocabulary, ample and focused practice, and targeted feedback.
On a personal note, the intellectual and personal value of AP English Language and the study of rhetoric is significantly underestimated. Tutoring for AP English Language can increase test scores, but more importantly, it can help transform a student’s understanding of communication and persuasion. The increased insights and skills can serve a life-long benefit.
